Mans Names Firms

I am not the ONLY one who sees that law firms partners are "mainly dudes." Abovethelaw is now saying this: http://abovethelaw.com/2009/03/news_about_new_law_firm_partne.php

It also says the top women-freindly firms are Dickson Shapiro, Wiley Rain, Andrews Kurth, and Bryan Cave. Maybe you did NOT notice but they all have MENS NAMES! Even when we when we lose.

My manageing partner said all these are firing BIG time and its good we are NOT there: Morgan Lewis, Mayer Brown, Simpson Thatcher, Akin Gump, and the supposed Fried Franks. These all sound like a man's name also. And then there's Orrick, but I thought that was a vacuum company.

I told Alan maybe they need to start naming Firms with woman's names like Lisa Gump or Fran Franks. Alan said they did this for Sallie Mae, but that's not a firm.

  1. Yes, women sure have it hard alright. It's hard for them even to keep what they have. When I was young, all hurricanes used to be named after women (actual, living women, I suspect). There was a big one named "Hazel" back then, that caused a lot of trouble. A hurricane, I mean. I don't know who that one was named after. Anyway, some years back, we men started making inroads on that too, and now, every other hurricane is named after a man instead of a woman. Ellen, you should try to do something about that.

  2. I think Ellen you ought to get a job in DC. What is the status of your working in DC for Obama Administration? I want to think you could save us by getting DC back into shape.

  3. Ellen, no one would go to a firm where all the names were female.

  4. Ellen, can you put a picutre up so we can see what you look like? (or point us to a website where your picture is?) I have a bet with a friend, he says your gross, and I say your good looking. Help me win my bet!

  5. Ellen, I note people on the ABA website are asking about you, wishing you would come back. I don't suppose the ABA would have a change of heart. The # of postings on the website are down, and the articles are duller without your insight. If only the ABA would let you post again. They were real a-wipes in stopping you. Losers!

  6. Where are you? Why haven't you returned to the website? What about Alan? Are you married with child?
